PLEATING
A technique dating back to the old days is pleating.
This was initially done manually and was a way for the wearer to show his wealth and social position.
Nowadays, pleating is done with automatic machines, and this process has become indispensable in the fashion industry, being accessible to anyone.
TYPES OF PLEATING WE ARE ABLE TO ACHIEVE
SUNRAY PLEATING

Sunray pleating is the pleating type where the pleats are narrow
at the top and they widen towards the bottom, producing a flared effect, and they are used especially for skirts.
KNIFE PLEATING

Knife pleats are probably the most commonly used in the entire pleat kingdom.
It is a single pleat turned in one direction, sharply pressed.
They can be achieved from 2 up to 40 mm and for this procedure the ratio for fabric is 3:1.
The maximum of the fold is 1.3 cm. Generally the pleating lines are toward left.
ACCORDION / CRISTAL PLEATING

This type of pleating can be achieved from 2 mm up to 9 mm.
BOX PLEATING

Box pleats are knife pleats back-to-back, and have a tendency to spring out from the waistline.
They have the same 3:1 ratio as knife pleats.
Inverted box pleats have the “box” on the inside rather than the outside.
FANTASY PLEATING
An exceptional pleat for the most sophisticated tastes.
